Christmas service at the Cathedral
6 December 2017
This was a very special occasion, a short and simple service graced by children from the Prebendal School who put on a Nativity tableau, led through by the Cathedral Precentor, Rev Tim Schofield, and crowned by a very suitable short talk on love by our chaplain, LouLou Morris.
Organised by the Cathedral’s Learning & Engagement Department and fully supported by us, special arrangements had been made for our invited guests, many of whom were in wheelchairs. Three of the local registered Care Homes brought residents, while unanticipated visitors to the Cathedral happily joined in so that the congregation numbered over 70.
After the service the Cathedral kindly hosted a candlelit tea in the South Transept, and with that soft lighting and as dusk fell, the effect was magical and people freely mingled and chatted over tea and sponge cake.
And we must not forget the two donkeys; a great hit with many!
