2019 saw a record year for us in terms of numbers. In all, we made 3,361 visits to 320 older people, at all six of the local registered Care Homes, and we also led or supported worship services at each of them.
But numbers do not tell the real story – and indeed many stories cannot be told, because they would breach the confidentiality we promise our befriended.
We have chatted lightly with those who wanted social contact and deeply interacted with those who wanted something more intimate and spiritual. We were privileged to accompany some as they reached the end of their lives, and two of our people, being qualified, have led funerals and supported relatives.
During this year we also visited sixteen people in their own homes, and we expect this to increase. As is usual, each contact enriches us as much as it does the one who is reaching out for our help, or who is referred by other local agencies.
