30 April 2020
Despite having to cease all personal visiting in April, we have managed to maintain contact with some of our befriended through new technologies.
What has been painful for us is the loss of meaningful contact with the many of our befriended who are living with dementia. Some have become very distressed with us as well with as their relatives when visiting was stopped. Many do not have access to, or will not use, modern media platforms. And of course some are hearing impaired, so that phone calls can be unsatisfactory, even frustrating.
We are working to do our best in these difficult times. Meanwhile, our hearts go out to the staff who have had to deal with this added difficulty on top of all the usual challenges!
