Now that lockdown has eased for some sections of the population and economic activities once again dominate many people’s attention, we are concerned that older people will again be overlooked.
We do not see any easy options for the care homes who have so far successfully managed to keep the virus out. Information we have received suggests that they will maintain their strict standards of care and quarantine, and thus we do not expect our personal visiting and worship services to resume any time soon.
This is a great sadness to us, but we fully support these decisions and will continue to work to keep in touch through open-air visits and remotely.
So far we know of approximately 35 virus-related and secondary-caused deaths in this area, and we have no desire to see this number increase.
