Chichester Anna Chaplaincy Volunteers support the Anna Chaplain in befriending older people, their families, friends and care workers. This is a pastoral role with an emphasis on engaging with older people of all faiths and none, and being available to provide spiritual support, encouragement and reassurance.
The role of the volunteer is to complement the work of the Anna Chaplain in the spiritual support of older people, family, friends and care staff by:
Visiting older people, and being present for others such as families, friends and care staff.
Offering a ‘listening ear’ and prayer support if requested.
Providing information about spiritual care.
Passing on to the Anna Chaplain specific requests for visits, prayer, the sacraments or the specific religious needs of people of all faiths.
Helping older people who wish to participate in a religious service to do so.
Taking part in worship where appropriate.
We are looking for volunteers who are able to offer two hours on a weekly or fortnightly basis for at least six months. As a volunteer you will receive induction to the role and ongoing training, as well as peer support at regular volunteer meetings.
